ECL Trigger System

The calorimeter is expected to generate fast trigger signals in order to provide a fully efficient trigger for both neutral and charged particles. Two kinds of trigger schemes are taken into account, namely a total energy trigger and a cluster counting trigger. These triggers are complementary each other since the former is sensitive to events with high electromagnetic energy deposits while the latter to multi-hadronic events that contain low energy clusters and minimum ionizing particles. Fig. [*] shows the schematic diagram of the calorimeter signal flow and the electronics arrangement to perform the two trigger schemes.
